Dr. B. V. Raman Jottings from his Astrological Diary ...And More

Dr. B. V. Raman founded in 1984 Indian Council of Astrological Studies (ICAS), a premier institution of teaching Vedic Astrology.
Dr. Raman was a charismatic figure. He charmed his audience ??? both who learnt from him and those who consulted him, with his extraordinary insights into the movement of planets and human mind, individually and collectively.
This volume is in response to the continuing requests of readers of both the The Astrological Magazine and its successor Modern Astrology to make available to the astrology community the brilliant editorials of Dr. Raman covering mundane forecasts of events, made well in advance, of the Second World War, India???s Independence and other events that changed the course of history of the world.
This book presents Dr. Raman???s editorials on world affairs which he wrote for 68 years. These editorials are a hallmark of his deep knowledge and incisive logic. Through his editorials in The Astrological Magazine (1936???2007), he indicated the likely outcome of national and international events in the near future. He had successfully predicted the fall and violent death of Hitler. In his editorials, there were clear hints about Mahatma Gandhi???s assassination, and 1962 Chinese aggression, etc. His words were not mere statements but a forceful push of forewarning and advice, which if heeded by the political masters of the time, would have changed the course of gory history around the time of Indian independence and after. The book carries Tables, along with the astrological reasons, for 110 amazing mundane forecasts of Dr. Raman, made much before their occurrence and provide invaluable data to the research-oriented student of astrology.
Splendour Of Vargas

This compilation of articles on Vargas from learned astrologers, faculty members and senior students of ICAS is a unique attempt. Its uniqueness lies in the multi-dimensional approach that has been attempted for the first time in the current history of astrological deliberations.
Vargas is a difficult subject and most students do not know what to do with them and how. Profusely illustrated, this book gives clear principles. The deities associated with each varga and their meaning has been explained through scriptural references. It is with the deities factored in that this compilation assumes special significance and the splendour of vargas stands out in its pristine glory.
The book confines itself to the Parashari vargas and does not delve into non-traditional methods of casting some of the vargas due to insufficient research till now. The principles enunciated in these articles have been tested on many charts and a few of them have been presented here for the reader???s reference exemplifying the methodology.
The appendix is a rich source for reference since, besides the method of casting the varga, it contains Mrityubhaag of each planet and Arishtamshas associated with them. Obscure subjects such as Bhava Soochak Navamsha and Pushkar Navamsha and Pushkar Amshas etc. have also been included and provides extensive information about deities of different vargas for advanced studies.
Multifaceted Dispositors: Rashi-Nakshatra-Navamsha

The 360?? zodiac can be divided in several ways. If we divide it in12 parts, we get the 12 signs, each having important characteristics. The planet that is the lord of the sign is called the sign dispositor or Rasheesh. The sages of yore have compiled a phenomenal number of mundane and esoteric qualities of each nakshatra. planetary lord is called the nakshatra dispositor or Nakshatresha. If we calculate 4 padas of all the nakshatra, (27x 4=108), we get the navamshas. The planetary lords of navamshas are called Navamsha dispositors or Navamshesha.
So, in chart analysis, eventually, it all boils down to planets. It is either the natural karakatwas of the planets or those of the three dispositors mentioned above. These three dispositors form the subject matter of this book. Shri Kastwar has tried to present various principles and has given many illustrations from the point of view of students. Shri M G Kastwar is a post-graduate in Structural Engineering. He has held senior positions in a Government of India undertaking. He is now pursuing his passion for astrology through research and writing. He has to his credit 'Mystery of Retrograde Planets' in English & Hindi. He is a faculty member Indian Council of Astrological Sciences, currently with East-Delhi Chapter-V.
Fascinating Venus

The author has described Fascinating Venus not only from an astronomical point of view but also from jyotisha point of view. Though a large part of this compact book of 29 chapters is filled with Venus as related to astrology he has touched upon every aspect of Venus, from Vāstu, Palmistry, Ayurveda, Mundane, to remedial measures and Shukra-Stuti. For a diligent student of astrology, there is enough in the book to master the role of Venus in the chart for marriage and matching. He has covered not only the Navamsha but also Trimshamsha which is supposed to have special relevance for female nativities. It is not difficult to find the characteristics of different nakshatras in general in the classics but the description of 'Venus in different Nakshatras' is a very illuminating addition.
